In 1977, during the time when ten villages merged, the new community was named Fernelmont, the name of the castle-farm located more or less in the centre of the new area. The community house is located in Noville-les-Bois, near the castle, which is the starting point of this walk in the heart of the Fernelmont countryside.

Classified as a Natura 2000, this reserve is characterised by diverse fauna and flora. At the end of the trail, you will descend into the Loysse valley to return to the Meuse. Then, you will go up the Samson valley which will lead you straight to the Château de Seilles (Seilles castle), not far from the finish.
