“The Three Oaths” tells the story of the First World War and the occupation of Belgium by the Germans, through the story of a character, François, who was 22 years old in 1914. The tragic events lead him to take three oaths: that of duty, of the heart and of memory. But can one keep one’s promises in a time of war? This docu-fiction plunges the spectator in the heart of the conflict, by making him live in a strong way the daily life of the four years of war, thanks to the abundant archives of the time and to reconstituted sequences. The story is illustrated by historical commentaries, by the presentation of preserved places of memory, and is enlightened by interviews with historians of different nationalities.
