Balade nature de Dave

This walk, mùainly through woods, offers a good view of the local wildlife. The landscape mixes brooks, bushes and flood planes. It is the habitat of particular species of birds and insects, such as the Old World Swallowtail. This beautifully coloured butterfly with its elegant jagged wings loves wild gardens with lots of flowers. Dave is known for its islet, a patch of land in the middle of the Meuse. The islet is a nature reserve with an interesting biodiversity. Another natural feature, the Néviau Rocks (Rochers du Néviau), are popular with climbers. This rock face of 40 to 70 metres high near the river bank is hard to climb at some points, especially at the overhangs. With regard to architecture, admire the castle with the surrounding park alongside the river. The main parts were built in the 17th and 18th centuries. From the brochure "Balades nature en Namurois".
