"July 1789: the revolution broke out in France and stunned the world. Three months later, our provinces followed suit and rose up against Austrian rule. A paradoxical, little-known and sometimes forgotten revolution. This "Brabant Revolution" gave birth to the short-lived United States of Belgium and heralded the revolution of 1830.
