Exposition : Le "Tupperware" de Bruegel, Aertsen & co.

What will archaeologists think of our society 500 years from now, when they unearth the remains of our homes? Among their finds will undoubtedly be plastic objects, including containers for storing, transporting and drinking beverages, often referred to by the generic term "Tupperware". Their equivalent in the late Middle Ages and modern times were "Cologne pots". These were "Rhenish" stoneware pots made in the Rhenish region, as well as in what is now Wallonia.

The exhibition "The 'Tupperware' of Bruegel, Aertsen & co", designed by the Pottery Museum in Raeren, is devoted to them.

It has been adapted and is on show at the Maison du patrimoine médiéval mosan (Bouvignes/Dinant) from 24 February to 15 September 2024.

Pints, jugs, pitchers, bowls, bottles, goblets... All these pieces are linked to a selection of reproductions of paintings by Dutch and Flemish artists from the 16th and 17th centuries, in which these stoneware pieces are depicted. A fascinating insight into the daily lives of our ancestors, from the most modest to the most affluent!

Exhibition open Tuesday to Sunday, 10am-5pm.

From 24 Feb. To 15 Sep.
