Medieval Ruins of Poilvache
Poilvache (13th – 15th century) is one of the most extensive medieval castles on the Meuse, covering 2.5 hectares, and was besieged on numerous occasions.
Its massive and picturesque ruins have inspired poets and writers down the centuries.
(Nature Reserve – Wallonia Major Heritage site).
On a shady terrace, you can taste the famous beer of Poilvache: the Emeraude !
Exploring the nature reserve...: The area hosts a remarkably diverse and fascinating nature reserve. The immense plateau is covered with tall Austrian black pines. Highlight of the spectacle : a breathtaking view of the Meuse Valley from the fortress walls.
