The Medieval castle of Montaigle
Located in Falaën, at the confluence of the Flavion and Molignée rivers, the ruins of the castle of Montaigle will seduce the poet in you.
To visit Montaigle is to travel in time. With a bit of imagination, you find yourself transported to a legendary time: the Middle Ages. Nowadays, the ruins are overgrown, but they have kept their grandeur and beauty.
A site long fortified
The discovery of flint tools on the site suggests that the place was already occupied in prehistoric times.
During the Roman Empire, a small garrison was built there, and then a first castle around the year 900.
The remains that can be visited today date from the 14th century.
